FLOURISH! An Alternative to Government and Other Hierarchies.
Quote: As most people are aware, ethics are the means by which we decide what actions are permissible and what actions are not. What is less known is the fact that every ethic consists of two parts:
1. A value that defines what it is that we want more of in our lives, . . . and
2. A belief, or system of beliefs, that describes what actions we are to take to obtain more of the value that we seek.
Still less often recognized is the fact that an ethic may be valid or invalid. Valid ethics produce the desired results -- an increase in the values sought. Invalid ethics produce the opposite effect -- a lessening of that which is sought or desired. . . . Consider an ethic that chooses creativity and its logical equivalents as the values to be maximized. Such resources as love, awareness, objective truth, and personal evolution may be considered as logical equivalents of creativity, because whenever one of these resources is increased they are all increased, and vice versa. . . . All prosperity, and ultimately all happiness, derives from someone's creativity. The belief system that empowers this ethic begins with the notion that an act is good if it increases creativity or any of its logical equivalents for at least one person without limiting or diminishing creativity for anyone. In his book Podolsky presents in detail his solution to the practical problem of how we can achieve an ethical society in the broad sense that he has defined in the above quotation (or perhaps even bootstrap to a better solution). His technical term for this process is "Holomats of Octologues", which means networks of discussion groups consisting of ideally eight people (Octologues) with a variety of skills and a core interest, project, or goal around which they are aligned. Podolsky gives clear guidelines for how interactions best proceed in order to achieve full agreement in a motivated small group followed by effective action, achievement, and fulfillment. Systematic networking (Holomats) allows many small groups to expand their effectiveness by cooperatively managing large and complex ventures and enterprises for the benefit of themselves and society. WHAT IS MONEY?
Here is a simple definition proposed by Chris Martenson, author of "Crash Course" (see below):
MONEY IS A CLAIM ON HUMAN LABOR.
The labor may be in the past, present, or future, but it exists somewhere and somewhen.
Labor means work.
Work is often defined as a force through a distance -- and that also requires TIME.
Work is a form of kinetic energy in which something is transformed deliberately
so that it moves in a specific direction by the exertion of some effort.
What is moved or transformed is often described as a GOOD or a SERVICE.
This means that the effort creates something considered to be of value to somebody.
The definition does NOT say whether the labor has to be HARD, DIFFICULT, or PAINFUL.
Who does the deliberation and who does the work are left undefined, but are still required.
The CLAIM may or may not be realized, and thus there is always RISK involved with money.
The claim can be in any form: physical, mental, spiritual -- you name it.
Examples: minerals, shells, beads, resources, products, coins, "legal tender",
credit cards, actions, words, ideas, data, contracts, promises, . . . .
The role of a CLAIM makes money a social phenomenon, and is a declaration of VALUE.
Value means that someone believes something is important in their awareness.
VALUE IS A SUBJECTIVE BELIEF that may be shared among people.
In the BIG PICTURE maybe nothing is important.

Boondoggling with other people's money (OPM) leads a society into DEBT.
DEBT means you owe someone MONEY.
DEBT means someone has a claim on your labor.
Too much debt makes you a SLAVE to your creditor,
because all your life activity must be dedicated to your creditor. . .
unless you decide to default on your debt and forfeit much or all of your credibility in the social money game.
In the absence of devastation wrought by horrendous natural catastrophes or horrendous wars,
massive social default on debt is a sure way to crash the economic system of a civilization.
So let's take a look at some ways a society becomes enslaved with great debt,
and some ways a society may gain freedom from debt slavery.
(There may be many creative ways.)

Let's get started; de-centralize (DIY); de-governmentalize (less Big Gov, more state, local, personal responsibility); de-regulate (trust that people can do a good job); de-monopolize (less big gov); de-complicate (fewer third-party transactions); de-credentialize (fewer paper titles, more skills); dis-entitle (return to personal responsibility); de-normalize overspending (on your average salary a "trillion" is not normal); do something about it; live free.

Paul generally has been one of the few sane legislators in the U.S. (with a few exceptions such as his notion of going back onto the gold standard), but the state of a nation is a reflection of the decisions and actions of its citizens as a group, (NOT the government).
Below is one recipe for rapid correction of a massive and steadily growing national debt
IF such is desired after gaining an appreciation of reality.
In summary four steps are required:
1. The ultra wealthy demonstrate their financial acumen by paying off the national debt in one day
by investing in national projects and receive tax breaks as a reward to stimulate their further success.
2. Budget Reform empowers each income tax paying individual or business
(not the politicians or the government) to control the budget.
Congress sets fees, tariffs, duties. Underfunded departments privatize or fold.
3. Tax Reform provides relief so that a citizen's subsistence level is not taxed,
and the rest of his or her income is taxed with a flat tax --
no loopholes, no exemptions. Businesses and organizations have a similar simplified schedule.
4. Congress abolishes the Fed and the Treasury issues debt-free currency
backed by a standard based on the value of human labor.
